A lightweight precast block of aerated concrete that Indian sites increasingly use in place of red clay bricks for walls and partitions.

What is AAC Blocks (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete)?

AAC blocks (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) are lightweight, precast, load-bearing and insulating building blocks. On Indian sites they have replaced red clay bricks in many walls because they are more eco-friendly and quicker to build with, and their lower dead weight reduces the structural steel the frame needs.

Practical example

A developer building a 15-storey residential tower in Mumbai uses AAC blocks for all internal and external partition walls instead of red bricks. The lighter walls cut the dead load on the foundation by 20%, which saves structural steel and concrete.

In SuperWise

In SuperWise, AAC blocks are tracked as a material in the resource master, with a unit such as cu.m or nos. A site engineer raises a material indent for them, and when the indent line is linked to a BOQ item, its quantity should not exceed what is still unordered on that item. Deliveries are then recorded as material delivery challans against a PO line.
