Abstract of Estimate
The one-page summary of a detailed estimate that gives the total cost of each work head, such as earthwork, concrete and masonry.
What is Abstract of Estimate?
An Abstract of Estimate is the final summary page of a detailed building estimate in Indian civil engineering practice. It condenses hundreds of line items into work heads such as earthwork, concrete work, masonry and woodwork, and gives the cost of each head by multiplying its total quantity by its rate.
Practical example
After a quantity surveyor works out the foundation volumes, wall areas and steel tonnage for a new school wing, they prepare an Abstract of Estimate. This one-page document shows the school board that civil works will cost ₹50,00,000, plumbing ₹10,00,000 and electrical work ₹15,00,000, for a total project budget of ₹75,00,000.
In SuperWise
In SuperWise the Project BOQ is a tree of chapters, sections and items, and each item holds a quantity, a rate and an amount. The BOQ index shows quantities, rates and amounts per category, and a package-wise view totals the BOQ per construction package, so a project head can read cost by work head without opening every item.
