What is Site Engineer?

A Site Engineer is the engineer who supervises and carries out construction work on the ground. While consultants design the drawings in an office, the site engineer reads the structural drawings, sets out dimensions on the ground, supervises contractors for quality, enforces safety standards and keeps the work to the Project Manager's Gantt schedule.

Practical example

At 8:00 AM, the site engineer checks the drawings to mark the exact locations of the foundation pits for the earthwork contractor. At 2:00 PM, they take a measuring tape and a plumb bob to check that the carpenters have erected the column formwork straight. At 6:00 PM, they compile the day's labour usage and concrete poured into the Daily Progress Report (DPR).

In SuperWise

In SuperWise a site engineer finds drawings among the project documents by purpose and revision, fills quality checklists with photo and signature fields, logs task progress and raises site issues. The daily progress report then pulls that day's task progress, measurements, deliveries, labour and checklists into a PDF or XLS file.
