Material Indent (Purchase Requisition)
The site's internal request to procurement for a stated quantity of a material by a required date, which leads to a purchase order.
What is Material Indent (Purchase Requisition)?
A Material Indent is an internal purchase requisition from the site to the procurement team. Site engineers cannot buy materials themselves, so they raise an indent stating the material (for example 20 mm aggregate), the quantity and the date it must reach site so work is not held up. Procurement then reviews the indent and issues a Purchase Order to a supplier.
Practical example
The site supervisor will pour a concrete raft in 7 days, and the mix design needs 500 tons of cement. The supervisor raises a Material Indent for 500 tons of OPC-53 cement. The central procurement team receives it, compares quotes from 3 vendors and issues a Purchase Order.
In SuperWise
A SuperWise material indent carries the project, the resource, the quantity, a required-by date and supporting photos. A line can link to a BOQ item, and the indent quantity should not exceed what is still unordered on that item. Procurement accepts or rejects the indent, then converts it to an RFQ or links it to a purchase order.
