Control of a site store, from receiving materials to issuing them against approved indents, with a running stock balance.

What is Inventory Management (Stores)?

Inventory management is the control of a project's store, covering both the physical stock and its records. It includes receiving materials against GRNs or MDCs, storing them to prevent theft and weather damage, tracking stock balances, and issuing materials to labour contractors only against approved indents to reduce wastage.

Practical example

A storekeeper receives 500 bags of cement. In a loosely run store, 50 bags ruined by rain can go unnoticed. In a controlled store, the storekeeper records the opening balance of the day, issues exactly 100 bags to the masonry contractor and shows a closing balance of 400 intact bags at the end of the shift.

In SuperWise

SuperWise works out the stock of a material on a project as approved delivery challans minus recorded consumption, and shows it as an inventory balance per project. Consumption can be recorded against a task and a BOQ item. A resource can carry a minimum stock level, stock can move between projects through resource transfers, and the DPR lists the stock balance of every material on site.
