What is No Objection Certificate (NOC)?

A No Objection Certificate (NOC) is a clearance that a government department, such as the Fire Department, the Airport Authority or the Water Board, issues to confirm that a proposed building does not break that department's safety or operational rules. Building plans cannot be approved, or a property handed over, without the NOCs the authority requires.

Practical example

Before building a 50-storey tower in Mumbai, a developer needs an NOC from the Civil Aviation Authority to show the building will not interfere with flight paths, an NOC from the Traffic Police to show the driveway will not choke the highway, and a Fire NOC to show the fire-escape stairwells meet the code.

In SuperWise

SuperWise files each NOC as a project document, in a folder, with a document number, a purpose, a stage and a revision history. Searchable tags let a team pull up every Fire or Aviation NOC across towers, and folder access is set by role.
