Scaffolding

A temporary framework of steel pipes or bamboo that supports workers and materials at height on a building facade.

What is Scaffolding?

Scaffolding is a temporary modular structure that gives workers a safe, stable platform at height. Older Indian practice used bamboo, but modern safety codes call for interlocking steel pipes, such as Cuplock systems. Plasterers, bricklayers and painters use it to reach a building's exterior facade.

Practical example

To paint the exterior of an 8-storey building, the facade contractor erects a steel scaffold around the whole tower. Metal planks laid across the pipes let the painters walk along the 8th floor, and safety netting tied to the scaffold stops dropped tools from hitting pedestrians below.

In SuperWise

In SuperWise a scaffold inspection can be built as a checklist with Yes/No, photo and signature fields and attached to the facade task as its start checklist. With enforcement on, the task cannot be completed until the filled form is approved. A damaged scaffold or an incident can be raised as a safety issue with a priority and a responsible contractor.
