Green Building (IGBC / GRIHA)
A building designed to cut energy, water and material impact over its life, and rated by bodies such as IGBC and GRIHA.
What is Green Building (IGBC / GRIHA)?
A green building is designed to reduce its environmental impact. It saves energy, conserves water through measures such as rainwater harvesting, uses sustainable or recycled materials such as fly ash, and makes the most of natural daylight. In India the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and GRIHA award certification ratings, such as Silver, Gold and Platinum.
Practical example
A commercial IT park earns an IGBC Platinum rating. The developer installs rooftop solar panels, uses energy-efficient glazing to cut air conditioning loads, builds a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) that recycles 100% of flushing water, and sources 80% of building materials locally to cut transport emissions.
In SuperWise
In SuperWise each material delivery is recorded as a delivery challan against a PO line, with the resource, vendor, quantity, challan number and photos. A resource has a category and specification notes, and its ledger lists its transactions. A team can use these records as evidence of what was bought and delivered when it prepares an IGBC or GRIHA submission.
