A bar chart that plots each construction task against time, so start dates, durations and dependencies are visible at a glance.

What is Gantt Chart?

A Gantt chart is a bar chart of a construction schedule. The horizontal axis shows the time span of the project, the vertical axis lists the tasks, and a horizontal bar shows the duration of each task, so task dependencies and the critical path are easy to see.

Practical example

A Gantt chart shows Foundation Excavation running from Day 1 to Day 10. The next task, Pouring Concrete, is linked to excavation and cannot begin until Day 11. If excavation slips by two days, the chart shifts every dependent task and shows the new critical path.

In SuperWise

In SuperWise a planner builds the schedule in the schedule playground, and the critical path method calculates each task's dates from the project's working calendar. The task list opens as a Gantt view, which can show baseline bars beside the current dates. Each schedule approval creates a baseline, and the MIS report includes a Gantt chart that compares current planned dates with the baseline.
