Vastu Shastra
A traditional Indian system of architecture that sets the layout and compass alignment of rooms and entrances in a building.
What is Vastu Shastra?
Vastu Shastra is a traditional Indian system of architecture based on ancient texts. It sets rules for the layout, spatial geometry, ground preparation and directional alignment of a building. Its followers believe that placing specific rooms in specific directions, for example the kitchen in the South-East or the master bedroom in the South-West, brings the building into harmony with solar and magnetic energies.
Practical example
A developer designs a luxury villa project but places the main entrances facing South, which Vastu considers inauspicious. Despite heavy marketing, the villas stay unsold for 2 years, because most Indian homebuyers insist on Vastu-compliant homes. The developer has to re-route the driveway and demolish walls to move the front doors to the East.
In SuperWise
In SuperWise the final Vastu-compliant GFC drawings can be uploaded as project documents with the purpose For Construction (IFC), and each new issue is saved as a revision. A drawing can be linked to the schedule node it applies to, such as a floor slab, and a checklist with number and photo fields can record a check of column positions against it.
