A water storage tank on the terrace or on raised columns that feeds every floor below by gravity.

What is Overhead Tank (OHT)?

An Overhead Tank (OHT) is a permanent water storage structure on a building's terrace or on raised columns. Water is pumped up from the underground sump into the tank, and from there it flows to every floor below by gravity, so the building keeps steady pressure without booster pumps running all the time.

Practical example

While designing a 20-storey residential tower, the MEP consultant works out the daily water requirement for 100 families. The structural engineer then designs an RCC overhead tank on the terrace to hold 50,000 litres, and reinforces the roof slab to carry the dead weight of that water.

In SuperWise

In SuperWise a site team can build a ponding test form with date, Yes/No, photo and signature fields and attach it as the finish checklist of the tank casting task. With enforcement on, the task cannot be marked complete until the filled form is approved.
