Bar Bending Schedule (BBS)
A table listing every reinforcement bar of a structural element by mark, diameter, shape, cutting length, number and weight.
What is Bar Bending Schedule (BBS)?
A Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) is a table of the reinforcement steel bars needed for a structural element such as a slab or column. For each bar it gives the bar mark, diameter, shape code, cutting length, number of pieces and total weight, so that steel fixers can cut and bend to the engineer's design.
Practical example
Before casting a roof slab, the steel fixers read the BBS prepared by the structural engineer. It says they need 150 pieces of 12 mm TMT bars, each cut to 4.5 metres with a 90-degree hook at both ends. Cutting to these lengths prevents steel wastage on site.
In SuperWise
In SuperWise a BBS can be stored as a project document in a folder, with a document number, a purpose and a stage, and its revisions are kept. The document can be linked to the schedule node it applies to, such as a floor slab, so it is found with the work it covers.
