The colour a Development Plan gives to land reserved for residential use, where homes and housing societies can legally be built.

## What is Yellow Zone (Land Use)?

A Yellow Zone marks land that a Development Plan (DP) reserves for residential use, also called the R-Zone. Indian city plans colour-code land into usage zones, and developers want yellow land most. Without that classification, building an apartment complex or laying out a [housing society](https://superwise.site/glossary/housing-society/) on a plot is legally impossible.

## Practical example

A developer spots a 50-acre plot of cheap land on the outskirts of Mumbai. The city's Development Plan map colours the area Green (agricultural, no-development zone), not Yellow. The developer cannot legally build an apartment tower there unless the land is first converted to a Yellow Zone, a bureaucratic process that can take years.

## In SuperWise

In SuperWise the DP zoning extract for a plot can be filed as a project document, in a folder with a stage and a revision history, like any other file uploaded against a project. Folder access is set by role for viewing, uploading and deleting.
