The list of minor defects and unfinished items found at final inspection, which the contractor must fix before handover.

## What is Punch List (Snag List)?

A punch list, also called a snag list in India, is an inventory of minor defects and unfinished items found at the final inspection of a project, such as chipped paint, a missing door handle or a scratched tile. Under the contract, the contractor receives final payment only after every item is punched out, meaning rectified.

## Practical example

The [PMC](https://superwise.site/glossary/project-management-consultant/) walks through a newly built apartment for the final inspection and writes a snag list. The master bedroom door squeaks, the kitchen sink has a small leak and the balcony railing lacks its final coat of paint. The contractor spends three days fixing these snags before the apartment is cleared for [handover](https://superwise.site/glossary/handover-possession/) to the buyer.

## In SuperWise

SuperWise logs each snag as an issue on the project. The issue carries an issue type, a priority, a responsible user or contractor organisation and a target closure date, and it can link to a schedule node or task, with photos attached as evidence. Its status moves from open through in progress and resolved to closed.
