## What is Project Management Consultant (PMC)?

A Project Management Consultant (PMC) is a firm the client hires to act on its behalf on a construction project. Instead of the client employing engineers directly, the PMC runs the tendering, supervises the main contractor's daily work for quality, audits the contractor's [RA bills](https://superwise.site/glossary/running-account-bill/) and works to finish the project on schedule and within budget.

## Practical example

A hospital trust wants to build a 500-bed facility. The trustees are doctors with no engineering staff, so they hire a PMC for a 3% fee.
