Removing the temporary shuttering from cast concrete once it has gained enough strength, on timings set by the Indian concrete code.

## What is De-shuttering (Formwork Removal)?

De-shuttering is the removal of the temporary [formwork](https://superwise.site/glossary/formwork/) (shuttering) that moulded and held wet concrete in place. Indian codes such as [IS](https://superwise.site/glossary/indian-standard-codes/) 456 set how many hours or days must pass before each structural element can be de-shuttered, so that the concrete does not crack or collapse.

## Practical example

After a roof slab is poured, the contractor must wait at least 14 days before removing the vertical props under the slab, although the side shuttering of the beams can come off after 24 to 48 hours. Removing the slab props on day 5 would probably crack the green concrete or bring the roof down.

## In SuperWise

In SuperWise a finish checklist can be attached to the de-shuttering task, and with enforcement on, the task cannot be marked complete until the filled checklist is approved. In a schedule template the task follows the pour through a finish-to-start link, and the lag on that link can carry the curing days.
